This document summarises the key findings from 14 national

consultations conducted by the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) and

R.M. Williams to inform the development of Australia’s first National

Manufacturing Strategy (NMS) for Fashion & Textiles. The findings

capture the priority issues raised by industry, the areas of strongest

alignment, and the themes now shaping the draft strategic framework.

To coincide, a survey will be shared with industry to gather further

targeted input on the specific proposed actions within the draft

strategy. This feedback will be used to refine the strategic objectives,

test the feasibility of proposed measures and support prioritisation for

early implementation.

Further, the AFC will continue to work closely with industry through

the final drafting of the Strategy, including the establishment of an

Industry Advisory Group to provide structured, ongoing industry input

and guidance.

In early 2026, the AFC will focus on testing NMS priorities with industry

and government, and strengthen economic evidence through modelling

to prepare for implementation.

The final Strategy is scheduled for release in March 2026.
